The Outlaw can be set up from the reciever or from the remote. All info is displayed on the Outlaw's led.
I found the Outlaw's natural setting very good for simulated 5.1, prefer this over DPL for tv watching. I don't know how it compares to the DPL2 though. I would guess Outlaw's Natural setting is similar to Circle Surround.
A very nice thing about the Outlaw over the Marantz is the option to set your sub crossover. The Marantz set crossover at 100hz is quite high, IMHO.
My decision for the Outlaw rather than the Marantz 6200 has been a good one, I believe. I was quite concerned with the many poor reviews of the Marantz. Outlaw reviews were much more positive.

Thanks for that info. Another concern is the remote...can it control anything since it is preprogrammed. I would like to get down to 2 if not 1.
I am leaning more towards the Outlaw now after reading reviews.

A question on the sub set up with this....my current receiver is just a +(-) 10 is this true with the outlaw or is it different settup.

Thanks for all the info.

I was able to use my 1050 remote to control the 1050, Mitsubishi TV, Panasonic VCR, Panasonic DVD, Harman/Kardon and Yamaha CD players, and a Scientific Atlanta digital cable box. It's been great. A friend gave me a Sony RM-AV2100 for my birthday last year, and I find myself going back to the 1050's remote for some things.

I also had no problem replacing a pile of remotes with the 1050's remote. Runs the guide, info etc for digital cable or satellite too.

For sub settings, you have the -10..+10 sub trim like you mentioned. Also can set sub crossover from 60hz to 150hz (think that is highest). Any speaker set to "small" will use the x-over frequency you set to determine what to dump to the sub through the LFE.

Well the remote sounds like it could get rid of some other remotes.

Another question...this receiver does not have A and B speaker outputs does it.

I kind of need that. I currently run another set of speakers downstairs that runs off of my current receiver.

I need to sell my current receiver because I already have one spare one that I use in the garage.

The a/b output is kind of important to me at the moment. This is another think I do like about the Marantz but all the reviews lists so many problems. Difficult decision though I am probably not upgrading until april/may.

any ideas will help again.

thanks

No A/B outs on the 1050.

Haven't decided what I will do when I finish fixing up the downstairs and get speakers down there (looks like I have a while though, heh).

I still need a big push.

I currently have a reciever with a/b speaker out and I use it(B for speakers in basement) because my second receiver I use in the garage.

No I don't plan on keeping all 3 I would sell one.

Why is this such a big decision?????????

I want a different brand besides sony, kenwood, pioneer.

I have looked at marantz(which I like but read bad reviews)
Read some reviews on NAD but have not been able to test in person yet.

Key things I currently don't have but would like in my next receiver:
DTS, PLII, circle surround, 6 channel stereo(does the outlaw have this), a/b speaker output. That is why I like the Marantz it offers all the above(sr7200 does).
I am interested in the outlaw 1050......ideas, opinions.....hands on experience with other receivers.

Thaks.

I hear you about having a choice over the popular brands Sony kenwood etc. I myself have been debating between the 1050 and a Harman Kardon AVR-520 an excellent receiver but it dose not have A/B ether. I made the decision to go with the 1050. If it is A/B that you need you can always purchase a speaker selector from Monstercable, Audio Source or any other brand depending on your need and price range.

There is no DPL II in the 1050, only DPL. There is six-channel sound & DTS, though. (Only 5 channel DTS).

Move up to a 950/770, put the 1050 down stairs?
