This is directed to Outlaw employees and anyone else that may be coming to NYC for the show.

As a life-long resident of Manhattan, I will be more than happy to be your guide to some of the best eats in the city. Just contact me right before you arrive.

I cannot wait to check out some of the Outlaw gear in person at the show!

Outlaw mentioned in their last newsletter that they will have a room at the Home Theater Expo and will be giving out treats.

I went to the show in 2002 and plan on making an appearence this year!

Hmm...NY eats....Pearl Oyster Bar (where's that smiley for drooling?!)

You have selected some of my favorites.

Joe's Shanghai is wonderful. The one in China town has better prices. The one near the Hilton has better atmosphere unless you want the china town grunge feel. You must try the steamed buns. Get the crab and pork not just the pork. The crab is the key. I also recommend the drunken chicken or wine chicken. Another excellent Shanghai dish is Rice Cake which is one of my favorite.

Chinatown Ice Cream Factory is the best. The link you provided doesn't even mention the Taro Ice Cream but let me suggest you try it if you have the chance. A very unique flavor that is simply wonderful.

OK I am getting hungry now I have to go eat.

The one in Chinatown is "more authentic" in terms of atmosphere. You are usually greeted by a waiter asking you "how many" in regards to the soup dumplings. Just make sure you know what he is talking about and order enough for the table so you do not look like a tourist.

As for the Ice Cream factory, I am partial to the Green Tea and Red bean myself...Maybe, I will get some for dessert tonight. Only 10 minutes on the Subway, 20 minutes on the bicycle, or 35 minutes if I walk.

Now, I'm hungry!

Let's see:

Pearl Oyster Bar: Do some research and get back to me. Trust me, it's no tourist trap but instead some of the freshest seafood you can get in the city.

Jackson Hole: IMHO, one of the worst hamburgers I've ever eaten.

A Salt and Battery: Agreed, a must for authentic fish and chips. Plus, one of these days I will try out the fried mars bars.

Haven't made it to the other stops on your list yet. Will need to add them to my ever growing list of places to try out here in the city.

You guys are right, I am getting hungry just thinking of these places.

NYC gunslingers:

As a formal resident of NY City and a current resident of Chicago, I’ll rate Jackson Hole burgers at about average. I thought it was good when I had it until I moved to Chicago and tried burgers at Boston Blackies (164 E. Grand Ave. http://www.bostonblackies.com/home.html ). If you crave for real good burgers and have a chance to be in Chicago, give them a try along with many other great restaurants. Its cheaper here. Speaking of burgers, keep in mind that Billy Goat Tavern is for the atmosphere (“chee-borger chee-borger”), not for the burgers.

BTW, do you guys miss Giuliani?

Wayneo (a fellow CT Outlaw) and I expect to be there for at least one night (and ergo at least part of two days).
