My wife and I just bought a house, and we are budgeting to purchase and install a projector within the next 6-12 months. Our new house has a perfect room for a projector. Anyway, I am looking at the latest line of DLP projectors, and would love to hear opinions of anyone in this forum that has experience with any of them. I have had my eye on the Dwin (TransVision 3 Plus I think it's called), and a couple others that I have found for right around or under 10K. I am also trying to find some information on the best screen and screen size. The main seating area will be somewhere between 18 and 20 feet from the screen, and ambient light is not an issue.

Thanks for your input.

Hi,

As expensive as the really good projectors are, I would wait about a year until home projectors become available with the DLP HD3 chip. I think this will be a big improvement in technology. Just my opinion.

I've got an InFocus 5700 front projector in my dedicated home theater and a Samsung HLN4365W 43" above my fireplace in our family room. They both have HD feeds, though the 5700 only projects ED. They both look great, even though my viewing angle on the Samsung is not optimal. Hope this helps.

Go over to this site and ask about projectors. The posts over there seem to be well informed for the most part about current projector technology and upcoming products.

Good luck!

Look at the Optoma76, or the BenQ 8700 or if you NEED the 3chip DLP- Infocus came out with the Domino... All of these run in the $5000 range and better than the $$10k range proj. Check the specs- after being "pushed" towards a Marantz ($12k) - I did my homework! Asa matter of fact- My HT installer was building a showroom (pushing Marantz) and I showed him my research- they installed an Optoma76!
