I go into my local Tweeters today and find they have marked down the SCD C555 ES 5 disk changer SACD muitichannel players to $477. Great deal for a StereoPhile CLASS A product that was at $1700 orginally and recently $1200 (Now $800). They don't have the manual or remote or a new one, just the display. Now looking at the units I know my 775 SACD Player remote will probably work with it and it works the same as my SACD 5 disk changer so I don't need a manual. I had plenty of time to study it as these buffons looked for first a new one and then the remote and manual for this one. I wanted this unit. But they offer me a new in the box C222ES at $499, I tell them no, give me a price on the 555 without the remote, box or manual. They won't come off a dime. I was hot and I did not buy it even though used ones go for $600 to $650. I guess I will swallaw my pride and get it in the morning, but it pains me to do so.

$449 for the 222es does not sound like a good price at all. I think I would go for the 555es, unless the "sales consultants" at Tweeters piss you off enough so that you decide not to buy from them at all. That sort of thing has happened to me a few times.

OFCCM, you are probably right in that your existing Sony remote will work fine. You might check ti see if the manual is available on Sony's web site for downloading. I have a 222ES, but, based on their offer to you, I'd go for the 555ES. It should still come with a 5 year warranty. Good luck-- if it's still there!
