amplifier volume - 01/05/21 06:54 PM

trying this under a different post but still a potentially stupid question. I am driving Magnepan .7s and they sound great although at the probably loud volumes I prefer, I have to move up to -20 to -12db with the volume knob. Will this be a problem for the amplifier long term?

I have the RR2160 MKii powering KEF Q700s (floor standers) and a pro-ject essential ii turntable. When I put the receiver on phono mode, I have to crank up the volume to at least -34db to get a quality sound. Is that normal? I am also going source direct. Love to hear what “normal volume” settings are for others, when using the phono mode and a turntable. Thanks!
