"Long Tome Comin"... but not forgotten - 03/21/08 09:48 PM

I am sitting in my Home Theater room and listening to a great band that I have not litsten to since my youth. smile
It's funny to me how I myself have change music venues from time to time but always go back to the beginning. The time that I sometimes forget about...in the pass listening to good music with good friends, drinking a few, having a lot of laughs.
The band I am listening to is The Electric Flag with Mike Bloomfield, Harvey Brooks, Herbie Rich, Buddy Miles cool and a host of other talented people. The guitar riffs crystal clear, the bass lines filling, interlaced with great sax and inspiritional strings. The name of the CD..." A LONG TIME COMIN".
They just don't make them like this anymore. Or maybe it is the memories that make the music from the pass so bodying touching. Sometimes I still get goosebumps when I listen to the pass. A warm feeling and a throw back to all that was fun and uplifting. It was music that made you happy.
This CD I highly recommend if you like great horns, percussion and great string bending guitars.
It is a mixture of blues, soul, country, rock and even religious music to give it it's own blessing.
Turning down the lights and just listening, thinking of no-one and nothing else is what it is all about. smile smile smile
Try this out...I don't think you will be dissappointed.

..you missed the heart and soul of the band....Nick Gravenites. Yeah, great album, I had the original LP back then (1968 or 69)...I also have the CD now. Still have plenty of great stuff (LP's and reissue's) from back then...

Wow I did not think that I would hear anything in response to this cd. Bravo, Bravo!!!
I thought that this cd had everything. It was not a huge hit with friends of mine back in the day.
At times we all walk to the beat of a different drummer.

Sorry about Nick.

PS how do you like the Pansasonic DMP-BD30 Blu Ray. I have read that it surpasses anything that Sony has made to date.
I do mot understand that if that statement is true why there is not more agressive advertising from Panasonic.

My friend is considering buying a Blu Ray as I am but I want to do some comparing.

I don't know about jmacari, but I've been quite pleased with my BD30. The BD50 will be a better match with the Model 990 when it arrives in a few months because it will include onboard TrueHD and DTS-HD MA decoding, but since I'm still using my multichannel analog input for DVD-Audio and SACD for the time being I am glad that I went ahead and got the BD30 last fall.

From what I've read, the BD30 is nearly as fast as the PS3 for things like loading discs - which leaves it way out in front of the other standalone players currently available, including all of Sony's players. At this point, my recommendation to anyone shopping for Blu-ray is to either get a PS3, get a BD30, or wait a few months for a BD50.

Thanks Gonk.
I went on the Panasonic web site and the BD50 will be out this spring.

I love the BD30, the clarity of the picture (dependent on source material, naturally), the audio end of some discs is great, etc. I use Netflix for most of my viewing source, so I always am watching something new. I do own about 20 discs now (mostly concerts and documentary material).
Also, back to the music, I probaly have about 100 vinyl albums (re-isssues and originals) from that period (60's, 70's) plus another 100 or so CD issues from artists back then and their recent, newer stuff.

rubbersoul, click here for Electric Flag Concerts if you want to stream recorded concerts. There's also a great selection of concerts of other artists from the 60's and 70's.

Regards,
Mike

(MB is Tyan server/dual Opteron, scsi HDD).
