976 + 5000 : Low Output w/ No Volume Control - 12/12/20 10:55 AM

Woke up this morning to an issue with my 976/5000 combo. The audio output from all sources is very low (equivalent to maybe -60 in my system) and does not seem to respond to volume adjustments. I get some crackling from the system when I bring the volume up close to -0.

A few system notes...
- I bypassed the amp power trigger
- I reseated all source connections at both ends
- System is set to start up at -40 on volume
- System is typically at critical listening volume around -20

I’ve already put in a ticket on the support site, but thought I would post here in case anyone had run into this before. System was working fine last night. I have noticed some pops recently that I presume are related (though I had assumed they were due to connections that needed to be reseated).

Wow. Just want to say thanks to the Outlaw team. After checking in with service and checking a couple of things, they had me send it in.

My preamp arrived at Outlaw on the evening of December 22, was serviced first thing in the morning on the 23rd, and I had it back in my hands in December 24th in time to watch Christmas Eve movies.

This is a preamp I have had for 2-1/2 years and was STILL under warranty. The only thing I paid for was the shipping on the way to Outlaw.

I continue to love this preamp (which replaced one three times the price, sounds just as good, and works quite a bit better) and I am just blown away with the customer service at Outlaw.

Thanks again.

They are great to deal with for sure.
