976 shuts off after 15 minutes

976 shuts off after 15 minutes - 04/27/18 03:32 PM

My 976 is turning off after 15 minutes. If I turn it back on, it shuts off after 15 minutes. Is there some setting I'm missing? Some possible interaction with a component? The other components not controlled by the trigger out stay on, so I don't think it's my Harmony remote. I'll experiment with the setup this weekend. I'm just looking for ideas.

The 976 has a sleep timer but the manual doesn't include a 15 minute setting.

I'm pretty sure the problem is HDMI Control = on + Apple TV. I'll do more experiments later.

I'm fairly certain this is what is happening ... When the 976 powers on, the Apple TV also powers on and if the 976 input is set to the DVD player or the PS4, the Apple TV turns off after 15 minutes which causes the 976 to turn off. When I unplug the HDMI cable from the Apple TV, I do not see this problem. I set the HDMI Control option on the 976 to off and the problem goes away.

That seems to be a common issue with the CEC system in that it wants all control even if you don't want it to do what it does. Turn it off.

Yea, I've found that HDMI control stuff to be sketchy at best. I just shut it all off and switch everything manually. For example, we found in the bedroom that if my wife paused the blu-ray the TV switched over to the Roku. Really? She didn't even turn the player off, just paused it!
