rr2160 - 07/25/19 11:44 AM

Brand new on site, finally approved for forum. I am just about to pull the trigger on a 2160. I've read some of the threads on the blue tooth add on they offer, some people not to pleased with it.Would an after market audio engine Bluetooth DAC, for example be a better DAC than outlaw audio's. Also, is a USB connection for the Bluetooth DAC a better connection than optical? Next : there are 2 USB ports on the rear of unit, from reading owners manual they seem to offer a direct connect to an I phone, which i believe would allow the outlaws DAC (I assume is better than my I phone)to stream my music through. Any help would be great. Thanks RobertTN

I have read all the reviews of both the RR2150 and its successor the RR2160 and everyone of them is very complimentary of these pieces of gear. The DACs are more than sufficient for what the gear does and many say it is a very clean signal path. The USB ports are available and will allow the DACs in the 2160 to be used vice the source DACs.

Thank you very much. my speakers still in box, JBL 530's 6 ohm 86spl. If yours runs the pans, I'm guessing I shouldn't have any problems. Thanks again. Robert

For the record my "pans" are run using a 990 and a 7500 amp, although I think the 2160 could run them pretty well. The maggies need a lot of power to generate good bass which is why I have a sub with them just to relieve some of the load from the 7500, even though the wife rarely lets me push them hard. I don't have a 2160 myself, I just keep up with the reviews and threads here on the site. If I were in the market for a stereo receiver I would probably go with the 2160.
