Internet Radio - 11/28/17 08:41 PM

New owner here:

Trying to figure out how best to navigate Internet Radio. What service is used? So far it seems to be a little hit and miss as far station stability(works one time - not the next).

It will only play what your home network can support. Page 26 of the manual has a pretty good description of how to use it.

Using it is easy enough and I have fiber to house with plenty of bandwidth. If I choose a highlighted station it works one time and not the next. Probably the station itself going up and down. If I knew the service used I might be able to pick a more reliable station. Crawling through the menus is very slow.

I think Outlaw Ben will need to field this.

Beyond the "Hit or Miss" nature of internet station reliability, which I have experienced as well, the effort that it requires (a painful number of steps combined with a very slow display) to tune radio stations (that also may change position in the menu based upon updates), makes this "feature" virtually useless to me.

If there was a way to save your favorite internet radio stations to a preset, like you can with the regular OTA radio stations, then it would become much more usable.

This may be a stretch, but hopefully a firmware update could add this 100% necessary feature (internet radio presets) to make internet radio usable on the RR2160.

I agree. At this time I have given up on using internet radio. Terrible interface at this point.

Outlaw - any hope of a firmware update?

Why not just tune the radio stations with your laptop or phone and feed it to the 2160 via the USB connector. It doesn't seem that the 2160 has much capability to act as a storage location for the internet radio links it would need to allow saving the stations. The interface does appear more cumbersome than what is available online for free.
