7140 Low level hum - 02/07/18 07:32 PM

My 7140 is exhibiting a low level hum in several channels with nothing connected other than the speakers.

I had a louder hum with things connected but a coaxial isolation transformer killed most of the noise from the cable satellite box. Now with everything disconnected I am still getting a low level buzz hum in at least 3 channels. The transformer in the unit itself does hum/buzz a little.

Is there anything else I should try or should contact Outlaw about fixing it?

You probably have some DC on your main power feed. A power conditioner might clean this up for you.

Also try running a signal through the amp and see if the problem goes away. The toroidal transformers Outlaw uses saturate pretty easily when not loaded but come out of saturation pretty quickly when you start driving the amps.

You could also try a different receptacle for the amp just to check the above issue.
