Ultra X-12 Constantly Blowing Fuse - 04/05/17 03:15 PM

I bought 2 Ultra X-12s for my home theater a little over a month ago.

Recently I noticed that one of the subs was not powering on. I narrowed the problem down to a blown fuse. After picking up some new fuses, I tried it again.

Any time I switch on the Master power switch, the fuse blows. I unplugged everything but the power cable, flipped the toggle switch to off, tried a different power cord, different power outlet... no matter what, once that master power switch is flipped, the fuse blows instantly.

Am I missing something? Is there something else I should try?

Back to Outlaw it must go. Maybe you can just send the amp, but call customer service and they will help you troubleshoot it. It could be a lot of things so let them figure it out for you. This early in the warranty they should pay for shipping both ways. They may even send you a new one with an RMA to ship the old one back.

Yep,
I bought two of them also. One of them would not work in auto mode. After numerous emails and calls they sent me a replacement amp and I had to remove and replace it myself. Not a big deal but dosnt anyone check these before they are sent out to the customers? I think thats called quality control. I had to send them back the defective amp. What a pain in the ass! I emailed that question and never received a response back. Im not feeling the love.
Oh well live and learn. Emotiva?

I haven't had any problems yet(fingers crossed) but if anything does happen, I think I'd much rather handle the amp, than packing up the entire sub, shipping it out and having to unpack the replacement.

Fred, I had emailed with you in January of this year. The conversation ended with you thanking me for my prompt handling of the situation and telling me how very appreciative you were. If there was any correspondence after this, I apologize because I have no record of it. After what I felt was an unfortunate incident, but a positive interaction I am sorry to hear you feel that way. I would've assured you our units do go through quality control, but unfortunately sometimes things happen; when they do, we try to make sure the customer is taken care of.

Ben I do appreciate that I've got a replacement for the defective one you sent me. Also my communication with you was a positive one. But it was still a pita. On a good note the subs that I paid for are still operating good and I do not have any regrets. I would recommend them to anyone.

Having just gone through the process of returning an Ultra X-12 myself I can sympathize. No problems with the Outlaw customer service-that's stellar as always.

But getting that beast back in the box is a challenge. One possible improvement for Outlaw would be to include instructions on the process for re-packing the subwoofer along with the RMA information.

I had to do the same for my LFM EX-1 when we moved from Florida. I basically put the sub upside down on carpet and put the styro/foam on it and then put on the inner box. Then I flipped it right side up and put the styro/foam in the inner box. Closed the inner box and flipped it upside down to do the same kinda stuff for the outer box.
