Outlaw 975 and HEVC - 10/11/17 09:16 AM

Anyone have success streaming HEVC through the 975? I am using an ASUS chromebox to stream and works great except for streaming files with HEVC coding. I get no audio and the video will stutter. When I pull the 975 out of the system and run directly to the TV or through an Xbox One, it streams with no stuttering and has audio. Any idea if the 975 can handle this?

I'm guessing it won't work. Xbox One according to Microsoft is hit or miss with the H.265 HEVC codec also. You might have just got lucky. Note, standard blurays use the H.264 codec while the newer 4K blurays use the H.265. They are based off the same concept but the implementation is different. From what I've read it takes more than a firmware upgrade to process H.265 but I have no direct experience. I'm still living in the 1080P world.

Just at a loss right now. Kind of leaning towards it is an issue with the Xbox one or the streaming box. Time to try the streaming box to the 975 right to the TV. Tried using optical instead of HDMI for audio and no audio last night and still no audio and occasional stuttering on video. This was Xbox to 975.

Well, you're doing the right thing swapping stuff around to see what works and what doesn't. Try swapping HDMI cables around also. Maybe you have a bad cable that's corrupting data at higher data rates.

So pulled out my chromebox and replaced with Nvidia Shield and working fine through Xbox one and 975. So I am going with not the 975. That is great news!
