975 and VGA projector incompatibility - 02/07/17 11:39 PM

currently have 975 hooked up to a BenQ VGA video projector. If I hook up the 875 with component video out the picture is displayed on the projector. If I hook up the 975 with HDMI out to projector with a HDMI to VGA adaptor No picture, projector states "no signal" Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried three types of adaptors , different cables , etc. I am at my whits end. Help Outlaws please help!!

Have you tried a known good VGA source to make sure there isn't a problem with the VGA input on the projector?

Hi John,

To be honest, those adapters can be a nightmare. I can't imagine being able to do this with a passive device. VGA is really an analog connection, so we don't recommend even trying this with an adapter due to the fact that you need a converter. The converter also needs to play nice with HDCP.

Feel free to shoot us an email, at customerservice@outlawaudio.com , with a URL of the adapter you are using.

I would suspect an HDMI handshake condition where the 975 cannot "see" the projector. I take it the projector does not have an HDMI input.

projector works fine with component output to vga cable and direct computer connection to the projector

hello ben,

Went to a very good computer resource(micro center superstore) using a QVC HDMI to VGA adaptor, I have a quality 15' HDMI cable connected to the output of the 975, connecting to a HDMI gender changer to the HDMI to vga adaptor to a 1' vga to vga cable to the projector. I know this is a lot of connections but only way to connect due to gender issues. Would you possibly recommend using a 15'VGA cable to the adapter to the 975 instead?

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The component output from the 975 will transmit 1080P video as well as HDMI. I would use that option until you can get a new projector.

Are you sure the adapter is doing a digital to analog conversion and can handle the HDCP handshaking process? The component out will transmit 1080P, but won't send out video present at the HDMI inputs. Remember, the Model 975 needs to handshake with both the source device and the display device. It might be worth stopping by Micro Center and talking to them to ensure the product you bought is capable of the aforementioned.

It probably is the HDCP getting in the way. A quick check of some of these adapters and ones I've seen are not compatible with HDCP.
