HDCP 2.2

What is the current 975 DHCP standard? Is there any possibility of a future upgrade path to bring the 975 to the new HDMI/HDCP standards arriving in 2015?

Why do you think this will be an issue?

The new players will have to have dual HDMI to make up for all of the currently deployed non 2.2 gear in the universe.

Right now, because my 10 year old TV is 1080P but not HDCP certified, all cable and DVD's are reduced to 720.

I've read articles which say if any of your A/V system components are not HDCP 2.2 certified in the future you will not enjoy 4K. The signal will be reduced to 1080.

what model TV?
Any flat panel digital display will take whatever input and upconvert to its native panel resolution.
Example, my 720p plasma can take a 1080i input but the output will still be 720p
That info (native resolution is in the HDMI data from the display.
Today the only native 4k contenet is from camcorders that do not have HDCP 2.2 (new ones coming out later may have them) and netflix or youtube streams that also do not rely on any 2.2 gear.

So again, if you get a brand new 4K HDCP 2.2 display and then get a HDCP 2.2 bluray, chances are that player will have dual outputs.
Cable and everything else won't matter. They don't have HDCP 2.2 now or in the future. (no cable or OTA based 4K content on the horizon.

Why is this a dumb question? This forum is for those of us who may not know the answers and seek them from those who do. Bootman you need to contribute to the fun and not make fun of people who may not know.

A dumb question would be....Do I have to plug the unit in for it to work? or How come my wife isn't as excited about the 7900 as I am?

I don't think Bootman was making fun. I read it as himself saying his question might appear dumb. In Buckets case, the issue is likely moot for his current 1080P display and likely to be the standard when he buys something new. Depending on the TV it may not upconvert lower rez feeds to 1080P. I have a Samsumg DLP which did not upconvert but would display anything fed to it up to its native rez already enhanced by a another source.
