NAD vs Rotel CD Players - 02/17/06 12:08 PM

I was curious if anyone has had the opportunity to audition both the NAD c542 and the Rotel rcd 1072 cd players, and what their preferences and impressions are. Unfortunetly there is no longer an NAD dealer in my area so any impressions would help me decide whether a road trip was in order. Thanks

I have the RCD 1072 (with a 990/7500). I am very satisfied with the unit. Before the 1072, I owned a Rotel 855 (bought in 1991)that had been modded by Enlightened Audio. I have always been very satisifed with Rotel equipment (I also have a Rotel TT). The 1072 sounds great with my Outlaw equipment...I listen to a lot of 2 channel CD music. Currently have the 990 set up in analog Bypass mode; I've had the Outlaw equipment for about a month-I still can't believe how well my CD's sound. All in all, the Rotel is a good player for the money (I paid $680).

Hi, jmacari,

Can you control your Rotel RCD-1072 CD player using the romote control unit of Outlaw 990? I can't do it with mine. I input the remote control codes listed on the 990 manual, but they did not work. Do you have any suggestions?

why doesn't Outlaw Audio get into the CD player market too? I'd consider buying one if it was a good fit and sound for the 990 pre.
