I've finally brought my brother into the fold as he has now officially determined that he would like to go with Outlaw for his first separates. However, he is also shopping around for new speakers as well. I'm a bonafide Paradigm supporter, but he has heard some good things about Definitive Technologies. I'm a bit light on knowledge with their speakers, so I'm curious if anyone owns any and what their impression is of their quality. I'm intrigued by the powered sub in the L/R speakers, but also in the center.

Feel free to comment on past experiences both good and bad. Thanks for all your time and knowledge gents!

I have def techs as you can see in my signature, I think they sound great, but the mains are a little finicky on placement, once you get them set up properly they sound fantastic (IMHO). the center channel has added great depth to voices, not unnatural. the only negative I can think of is they all have to be plugged in so you need outlets close by, as the cords are not very long, and if you are tight on space, thier fairly big. hope this helps.

I compared DefTech and Paradigm Reference when I was shopping. I ended up with Studio/60's, but that's my preference. The two are a bit different - I'd strongly recommending demoing both (side-by-side if possible, which is what I did). Your brother's ear is the best judge of which he should get.
