Surround Speaker Placement Dilemma

Surround Speaker Placement Dilemma - 07/23/05 03:41 PM

I am going nuts trying to get situated in my new home and have to reconfigure my HT. I am getting my family room re-done and am adding a new tongue and groove ceiling. I am having my installer put in Polk Audio Lc80is in ceiling speakers for my rear surrounds (7.1) and now I am faced with a dilemma for my side channels.

I don't have room to put my LSIFXs on the walls at an ideal height as the family room is narrow and someone could bump into them or hit their head, etc... (They are HUGE). My question is this: What do you guys think if I place them where the ceiling meets the wall at a 45 degree (or less) angle facing the sweet spot? Movie theaters do it this way-- would it work for me?

Thanks. I actually looked up the DTS recommended placement and maybe higher is better. That would be nice actually.
