Remote - 05/16/05 05:43 PM

I'm looking for a good remote - including one that will control the 990 (when I get my invite to order!)

My biggest issue is that I have a Bell 5800 (Dish 508) PVR and soon to have a Bell 6000 HDTV reciever. As far as I can tell the 5800 only works via RF.... are there any remotes out there that will control these things (other than the included/replacement remotes) as well as do home theatre stuff?

let me know,

Thanks.

The 5800 only works through RF? No IR sensor at all? Well, there are the MX-600 and MX-800 remotes from Universal Remote (available online from places like BlueDo ) - they will do both IR and RF, and the MX-800 offers a computer interface so you can download other people's system configurations. The MX-800 is a bit pricey ($250 on eBay, more through more traditional channels).

Hey gonk,

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if the MX-800/600's actually control RF units or if they just are doing IR extension via RF?

I'm not sure about that, Obiwan. There are some good resources at Remote Central that might help answer that question, plus the manuals for both are available here .

What about Harmony remotes. I have not used one, but they seem to be less expensive for the ones that have connectivity to the "outside" world.

The MX800 seems a bit steep..

I don't think Harmony's remotes will do RF - I think they're exclusively IR.
