outdoor speakers & wiring

outdoor speakers & wiring - 04/20/05 11:15 PM

I'm about to wire a covered patio for speakers, but I can't find any documentation for any outdoor speaker that talks about how to protect the connections at the speaker terminals from the elements (i.e., to prevent possible shorts from moisture).

Anyone have any wisdom on this subject?

Are the speakers going to be under the roof? Ceiling mounted? You could use a substance called Liquid Tape found in boating stores. The Liquid Tape is just painted on the wire termination point waterproofing it and insulating at the same time. Jim

Thanks, Hullguy. The speakers will be hanging just under the edge of the roof and pointed outward, so insulating is exactly what I'm looking for.

Is this fairly thick stuff, and relatively easy to get off if I goof (which is a certainty)?

It just peals off. Jim
