XLR to RCA Cable Question

XLR to RCA Cable Question - 03/29/05 04:31 PM

I need to make a cable from XLR to RCA. This LINK shows a diagram for wiring to specific pins. Is this wiring scheme correct for all situations. I ask because my preamp has a diagram showing Pin1 = Ground, Pin2 = Cold(-), Pin3 = Hot(+) and if I wired the way on the linked page I would be tying the Hot to Ground. Doesn't seem right. Thanks for input

Some components use pin #3 as the "hot" side of the balanced line, however pin #2 has been the standard for a couple decades. Just short pin #2 to pin #1 in your instance.
