ANY new info on the 1070? - 10/19/04 04:32 PM

I find myself searching the web each day for ANYTHING I can find on this thing. I'm so anxious it hurts, literally... ;-)

I don't have a lot to ease your pain, unfortunately. Outlaw's latest newsletter (which went out last Friday) didn't get into details. They will have the Model 1070 on display at the Home Entertainment Show in San Francisco on November 5, 6, and 7 along with the RR2150 and the Model 790 amp. I would expect any announcements to be made there, so I'd suggest checking here and on other news sites in a couple of weeks.

I haven't seen the latest news letter, any info on the RR2150, other than it being on the show circuit?

Nope - I expect they're holding any announcements for the HE Show in two weeks.

Here's a little info that may or may not be new: it's heavy, made of metal, and makes noise... :p

Hang in there, rmeredit, and we should know something from the San Francisco HE Show in less than two weeks. (Bay area gunslingers are of course welcome to go by and visit our friendly Outlaw buddies and report back here for the rest of us - there's even an offer in the latest newsletter for tickets if you need 'em.) In the meanwhile, you can always stare at pictures from the May HE Show here and here while you wait.

I just ran a search on the net and found a site with some early shots and a bit of information that you may or may not have known. Also the 1070 looks TOTALLY different than anything else in the current Outlaw line-up.

P.S. This link shows the Back of both the 1070 and 790, as well as a somewhat blurry 1070 front shot.

Re: ANY new info on the 1070? - 10/26/04 05:16 PM

Interesting that those pics are linked directly from Pat's site (the rear of the 790) and desperado's pictures on my site (the front and back of the 1070) - it's no skin off my nose, and I doubt Pat's too worried about it, but it's sort of a tease for the other pictures that are available. Pat's pictures offer a particularly good assortment, although desperado did get the best close-up of the 1070's rear panel. Anyone who hasn't done so already and is interested in the 1070, 790, or RR2150 might want to skim through this thread - not only are there links to pictures, but there's also a healthy bit of information on all three products. It is probably the best source currently available for details, especially on the 1070's features.

I'll send you the money if you send me a 1070... ;-) AM I really looking at the turn of the year before I get my hands on this thing? I'd REALLY like to have it before Christmas.

Re: ANY new info on the 1070? - 10/29/04 03:24 PM

I'd say at the earliest January.....Outlaw has not published any production/official spec's yet, nor have they commited to a launch date.

Send me the cash.....I'll re-work the "5" on my 1050 to read "7" and send you the unit. I will then simply replace it when the 1070 is available! Just squint while you are playing it and you'll believe it really IS a 1070 wink

Re: ANY new info on the 1070? - 10/29/04 04:03 PM

I'm going to concur with Cadboy here - when Outlaw showed off the 1070 at the HE show in New York back in May, they told several people that it would be new year's eve at the earliest before they could be shipping product. I can't imagine a scenario that would shave time off that schedule. This is a complex piece of gear, with some pretty advanced features (including some that Outlaw has not offered before and even one - DVI switching - that has really only existed in a handful of pricey standalone devices until now). They'll get it out as quickly as possible, but there's a lot of details to get coordinated.

Just this announcement so far, but based on the following quote from that:

but we're working through the week to find some creative ways to bring you some of the news and excitement that would have been part of the show in other forms.
...I expect Outlaw to give us some post-Halloween treats in the near future.

Re: ANY new info on the 1070? - 11/04/04 11:25 PM

I have a quick question about this thing. The prototype had DVI ports (DVI switching). Why would they DO DVI switching & not HDMI? Isn't that the new 'thang' and backward compatible w/ DVI?

Re: ANY new info on the 1070? - 11/04/04 11:58 PM

I'll take a guess. When they began design on the 1070, HDMI was still pretty young and DVI was dominant. In fact, it's only been in the last few months that I've seen products appearing that actually use HDMI, whereas DVI displays have been on the market in significant numbers for a couple years.

Good answer. I wondered as my new TV & DVD player both have HDMI & not DVI...

I got an email from Outlaw this am - I guess they're preparing a newsletter w/ info on the 1070. This CAN'T come soon enough as I NEED this thing. Can we start a waitlist? I'm 1st... ;-)

Out of my cold dead hands...

Welcome to the Saloon.
There must be hundreds that have called shotgun on the 1070, so I guess the Outlaws will have to produce enough of these units to avoid a waiting list, and the potential gunfights in and out of the saloon doors.

Good luck being first... gonk has, like 3,500 posts, I have 115 or so, and you are at 13. Maybe it is your lucky number... are you feeling lucky kid? cool DoDeDoDeDoooo WhaWhaWhaaaa...

Gonk...I just noticed your member status. How long have you been a desperado ? I have been THE Desperado since I first joined ;-)

Looking forward to upgrading my 1050 to the 1070 when they become available....Don't know if I will get WAF fast enough to compete with the other gunslingers around these parts.

Ever since the change to the new forum - 1500+ posts is now a Desperado, albeit not THE desperado. smile
