The bug is, in a very short definition, a MPEG decoding problem. For a great explination of it and ways to find it, go to this site:

However, I don't think what you described is the "bug." It sounds more like a monitor issue. What type of monitor are you using?
All that being said, I have a player with the bug and it doesn't bother me all that much. Of course, I do have a 17inch computer monitor for my screen!!
