Recommend a pair of mains for sub $500-600 - 11/26/11 08:30 PM

I'm giving my 990 and 775 amp as well as one of my old LFM-1's to a relative since I don't need them anymore (and they won't fetch enough on Ebay to make it worth my while). What would you pair them with for someone "on a budget?" I offered to give them my Dahlquist DQ-20i's, but they're after something new (and under warranty) that can deal with whatever the 755 can dish out. This is mostly for jazz/blues audio and very light home theater.

What say the Outlaws?

Best,

Tell them to check out the Magnepan MMGs. Great starter set and they can be traded later for bigger units. $599/pair and they will sound awesome with the kind of power the 775(755/770?) can supply.

thats a tight budget for something new. Floorstanders or bookshelfs? Klipsch reference is great and affordable. Klipsch is a forte of mine, i've owned over 22 different models in the last 2 years.

I hate to say it but the used market is really the best bet to get some good high quality speakers for a good deal especially in this price range.

I'll post more if anything comes to mind

Go listen to the Maggies if you can. If you can't, they have a 60 day $$$ back guarantee too. There is not a better deal out there for 600 bucks.
