Bi amp options

I have the 886 with an Outlaw 7700 driving a Klipsch RF7 speaker set up. Ya, I know, its sweet!

Anyway, the 886 is connected to the 7700 with balanced connectors. If I wanted to, could I buy two of the Outlaw 2200 mono amps, connect them to the RCA pre-out, and then run another set of speaker wires to my Klipsch RF7s (they do have seperate inputs for HF and LF on the crossocver/speaker connects)?

I dont even know if it would be worth it, but sometimes I get an itch to try something to see how it sounds/looks, etc.

Test it out by using the back surround channels of the 7700 to see if you hear a difference. The 886 manual has pretty clear instructions on how to Bi-amp your speakers and you have to set a menu item for your speakers to Bi-Amp to make it work internally. With the efficiency of the Klipsch system another 200 watts just for the horns may need some tweaking. I don't know if connecting the XLR connections disables the RCA outputs through some mechanical wizardry or not.

I don't know that those Klipsch speakers will benefit from the extra power, but XenonMan's idea of testing the idea out with two other channels on the 7700 is a pretty good one.

There's one potential problem that I can see. Since you're already using a 7.1 setup, you can't use the "bi-amp" setup without abandoning your surround back speakers. That means you'll have to use the XLR and RCA left/right front outputs to bi-amp. The XLR outputs will have a higher level than the RCA outputs (that's the nature of XLR), and neither the 7700 nor the 2200 have any sort of user-adjustable gain control to compensate for that.

Sounds like too much monkeying around. I am very happy with everything the way it is, so I will leave it alone. Thanks guys.
