Sub out on the PR-SC886 - 12/05/09 04:57 PM

I have the PR-SC886 and I have two subs in my main room. Can I connect one sub to the RCA out and another to the XLR balanced output or should I just use a splitter off the RCA.

Either way will work.

I was thinking there might be an issue with the extra 3db of gain through XLR. The manual says not to use XLR and RCA at the same time.

are you using 2 different subs? if do you hear anything different from side to side? how are they placed in your room?

sorry for 20 questions, but i want another sub and these are looming questions.

Each of my subs are just outboard of my LRs about 15 feet apart. One is an Outlaw LFM EX down firing and the other is an Aperion S-12 Front firng. They are pretty capable of any LFE in my HT and they sound good with music. Ideally I would have wanted the Outlaw behind the seating position but WAF overruled a cable running across the floor. The Outlaw is huge compared to the Aperion. The LFM EX could do double duty as an end table.

Pretty sure you can't just "Y" a balanced connection. Check into it first.

I am running two subs off my 885, but I daisy chained at the amplifier.

oh yes you can, i do it all the time. many of the soundboards here have only XLR outs so I made my own set of splitters. works like a charm, especially at a line level signal.
