Hello Folks,

I am revising some of my home theater gear and need some advice. I have an ATI 1807 180x7 power amp. A definitive technology speaker sytem: 4xBP7001sc(mains and surrounds), 2xBPVX (back surrounds) and a CLR3000(Center). The subwoofer is the old discontinued SVSPB12Plus. I have been using a Denon 3803 as the processor but I sold it and need a processor. I can spend about $1300 before WAF kicks in. I figure my options are Onkyo 885/886, Integra 9.8/9.9 either used, or maybe the Emotiva UMC-1. I would also consider a newer Denon receiver. I use this for about 90% movies. What do you folks suggest? Does anyone else have any ideas?

Thank you for any advice you offer.

The UMC-1 continues to struggle, based on what I've read in their forum recently. I'd be leery of it. In that price range, I'd look at a used Onkyo 886 or perhaps an 885. That would leave you a good bit of wiggle room, as you should be able to find one for under $1,000. Another option would be the DHC-40.1 from Integra. The 80.1 and Onkyo 5507 (same unit with different faceplates) are probably out of your price range, but the 40.1 would be a good fit with your budget if you want something new. I think the MSRP on it is $1200.

Other than what Gonk suggested you can try Audiogon to see what may be there in the pre-owned areas.

As the '10 series of Denon is currently being phased out for the '11 series, I have noticed a big drop in price. While the 3310 falls between the old 2809 and 3808 it is currently a very good buy at some retailers. It does have pre-amp outs and the 12 volt trigger, OSD over HDMI and the room correction. You may still be able to find these new with warranty.
