The Rebuild - 02/11/09 03:12 AM

I am brand new to the forum, but after reading a LOT of past posts on diferent stuff, I wanted to get folks opinions on my proposed path...

I am gradually rebuilding a good system after having most of my equipment stolen.

Right now, just as a place holder I have an Older Onkyo RT-510 receiver hookied up to my new Polk LSi9s and CSi center. For now, the LSi9s are my fronts until I get some LSi25s. The sub is currently a Polk PSW125, but I have a LFM-1 EX on the way as soon as they make more. (Got in on the deal about 6 hours before it ended wink ) I will be using the LSi9s as the rear surrounds in the future with LSi FX as the surrounds.

Currently I have a Sony BDP-S350, which will be changed out for the OPPO BDP-83 when it comes out. I am planning on getting an Outlaw 997/7700 when the 997 comes out.

Thoughts?

I know the LSi series are VERY power hungry. Will the 7700 be enough?

Also trying to firm up designs for a nice audio component box to build over the coming months...

The LSi family are pretty hungry speakers (88dB efficient and 4 ohm loads), but the 7700 is a whole lot of amp - at 4 ohms, you are getting 300W. Unless you have an extremely large room that you are trying to pressurize, you should be in good shape. All in all, it sounds like a mighty fine plan for rebuilding...

Yeah gonk, from everything I read (mainly that you have written wink ) I had surmissed that about the LSis. They definitely are pushing the current receiver  I wish it had pre-outs as I would go ahead and get the 7700 just to get more headroom and musicallity

I originally heard the LSis at a friends pushed by about 250W and they sounded incredible. So that is when I decided I would like them too! Too bad I did not know about Outlaw's speakers until recently.

Anyone know of a good place to find various audio component cabinet plans?

I'm running POLK RT2000s with a 770 (same power as the 7700) and it's plenty of amp. I migrated to the 770 from a Denon 3800 and the SQL improvement was dramatic. Even my wife was pleased.
