Panamax Line Fault

Panamax Line Fault - 07/07/04 08:51 PM

I recieved a new cable box the other day and took the opportunity to upgrade the cable from RG59 to RG60. The box also came with a PCT Drop amplifer. http://www.pctusa.net/catv/amp_drop.shtml
The problem is, when I plug the 15VDC power supply into any outlet in my house, my Panamax 5300 shows a Line Fault.

I have checked all of my circuts and they are correct as far as open, short, ground and reversed Hot and Neutrals.

Not sure what the problem could be.

It doesn't sound like an electrical problem.
Do you have the RG 6 cable going through (connected to) your panamax?
It's possible that your drop amplifier is introducing voltage through your RG 6 cable and the panamax is detecting it.
Just a thought.

If I disconnect the RG60 the light stays on. If I unplug the PS the light goes out.

I'd start thinking about replacing the power supply, because that sounds pretty iffy.
