not too big, not too small

42" hitachi hdt50m plasma
outlaw audio 950 pre/pro
outlaw audio 770 amplifier
definitive technologies mythos 2 fronts and surrounds and mythos 3 center
sunfire true subwoofer signature
pioneer elite dv47ai dvd and sacd player
monster hts2500 power center
comcast digital hdtv converter

a pretty good middle-of-the-road system i think.

i still haven't hooked the playstation up to it yet. LoL! i'm deathly afraid of screwing up the tv! any thoughts on that subject?

what are you worried about? screenburn? you need to enjoy the fruits of your labor instead of being scared to use them... :-)

get an Xbox

You won't harm it if you keep the contrast and sharpness way down(the way it should be anyways)

How do those Mythos sound in your own surroundings. I heard them at the local dealer and was impressed.

they're pretty good!

when i went to nantucket sound to check out the speakers (they had the sub and speakers all set up for me by the time i got there, btw) i thought they were a bit bright. they were being driven by a pioneer elite receiver and the owner of the place wasn't too familiar with it, but he did manage to warm them up a little, so i knew it was possible.

i was remodeling the living room before installing the system, so the whole thing was sitting in boxes in the guest bedroom for over a week before i got to hooking it all up, then 2 more days actually installing it. talk about a long two weeks!!! LoL!

anyway, it's only been two weeks since then and i'm still tweaking. right now as it sits the system ROCKS for movies but is still a little too bright for music for my tastes.

the 3 handles center channel duty very nicely. dialog is quite clear and focused. not a lot of bottom end, though. the 2's in front are about seven feet apart and sound AWESOME, but again, lack bottom end. together they produce great effects and soundfield, and now that i have the 950 connections correct the rears are doing their duty well, also.

all in all i'm very satisfied with them. they look great and blend in aesthetically with the tv very well, and work well with the sub.

and the sub is something else!! i'm not even running it at half throttle and it's loud enough that i have to turn it down for some movies. there's no way i'll ever use all 2700 watts, for sure!

so i'd recommend them for a system that has a sub but don't think they have the bottom end grunt to run alone. and with more time spent tweaking i'm sure that the "pretty good" will change to GREAT!

Looks like a pretty sweet set up to me!
