S-VIDEO Cable - 09/28/03 10:36 AM
Anyone have a suggestions on DIY S-VIDEO cable. I will be installing the actual cable in the wall, so it will be there for a long time. For neatness, I would like to term these into jacks. I'm looking for high grade jacks and cable.
I'm a network engineer by trade and understand CAT 5 , however I do understand video is a completely different animal.

My mistake... I've been told to use CAT 5. This is wrong. That's what I get for listening to the wrong people.
I did learn that twin coax based cable such as Belden 1808a with a favorite brand connector will do the trick.
Is it true that S-Video has a distance limitation? I need a 15ft run.
So much to learn so little time.
Tom,
Don't know what distance limitation there is with S-Video, but I can say that I'm using an 8m run of Monster Cable from my equipment to my monitor with absolutely no visible degradation in the picture.
I suspect that I could at least double that length and still be fine.
15 ft. has to be no problem.
Regards.
