Pre-order deal

Pre-order deal - 05/17/07 08:30 PM

I see that the 7900 now has a product page up on Outlaw\'s site . Along with that, I noticed that they're offering a deal on pre-orders - if you get on the reservation list before they start shipping in June, you can save $500 (so it's $2999 instead of $3499). There's even a pretty cool interior shot in the 7900's gallery along with the standard front panel and rear panel photos.

Looking at the large rear view of the amp, Photoshop is needed for the Left channel balanced input screws.

Re: Pre-order deal - 05/30/07 07:04 AM

Hello,

I've been holding off on buying an Outlaw prepro because I'm hoping they will release one with HDMI switching, upconversion, etc. like my Denon 4306 has. But I would REALLY like to try differential (balanced) cables from my prepro to my amp to see if it squashes some hum. I'm not sure I can stand to keep waiting for an improved Outlaw prepro.

Anyone know if the outlaws are doing a promotion combo of the 7900 + 990? One that's better than the current individual prices . . .

Thanks!

There's nothing on the order form, but with the pre-order price on the 7900 ($3000 instead of $3500) and the recently-reduced price on the 990 ($1000, previously $1100) you're already down to $4000 - not bad when I would expect the combo price to be $4300 or so once the 7900 starts shipping. Of course, if you call or e-mail them they might be able to offer a combo price of some sort.

What speakers are you driving that has you contemplating the behemoth amp instead of a 7700 or 7500? After all, the 990/7700 combo is $2900 ($100 less than the 7900 by itself) and still gives you 200W per channel (300W at 4 ohms).

I just checked out the pics.
There is no switch to choose whether balanced or unbalanced, like there is on the 7700. Anybody know why? confused

Scott posted recently that the amp auto-senses which input is being used.
