Yamaha NS1000M - 12/11/08 07:51 PM

I have a set of Yamaha NS1000M speakers that I'm wanting to sell.... Wondering what would be a reasonable asking price? They were my parents speakers and are in great condition. Any ideas?

Hold an auction for them on audiogon. See what you can get for them. If you don't like any of the offers you receive then you don't have to accept them. Just walk away from it.

You might pick through the AudioReview reviews to see how many reviewers bought theirs used. For a speaker of that vintage, I'd expect the used price to be pretty stable going back quite a few years. The auction idea is also worthwhile, but you'll need an informed audience to get a fair price (which may not include eBay in this case, although you could check for completed auctions of these there to see what turns up).

Those yamaha speakers were quite the speaker in their day. I auditioned them side by side with Magnepan Tympani Id's back about 1979 or so. They were over a thousand bucks a pair at that time and from what I have seen they have held their value well.
