My Little Story - 04/13/11 02:38 PM

New member. My little story. Last week ordered a Marantz MM7055 amp from Amazon.com to mate with my 3 year old Marantz AV8003 pre/pro. It arrived 3 days ago and when I unpacked it I found it was a 230 volt model used in countries other then the U.S. I decided not to ask for a replacement but requested a refund. I didn't want to take a chance of having Amazon make the same mistake again. I'll lug this 60 pound box once to UPS to return it, but not twice. At this time Amazon customer service is "looking into the problem and will let me know what they are going to do in a few days". I'm pretty sure the CS rep' didn't understand the problem.

Anyway, I did what I should of done in the first place and ordered a Model 7500, which is on its way. We will see what Amazon is going to do about my problem.

Amazon is generaly a good source with great prices, but they don't always know what they're selling. I've ordered what they advertised as SACDs from them on a few ocassions only to recieve red book CDs. When I return them for replacement, I again have recieved red book CDs.

I too have used Amazon to obtain things that I did not order. The latest was a Nikon camera lense which I ordered because it was on sale as a full auto 55-200 mm telephoto for $200. Imagine my surprise when the lense which arrived was a 70-300 mm full auto which I didn't order because it was $400 more.
