Rack for 7700?

Rack for 7700? - 06/25/06 01:47 PM

Can anyone recommend a good 4- or 5-shelf rack for the 7700 that can be purchased online? I know that Middle Atlantic lists one, but the MA sales rep in my area doesn't seem especially interested......said he'd send me a catalog which never came. Then again, I guess the commission on $105 isn't worth bothering with! wink

I've been looking at some of these racks, but haven't decided if I am going to spring for replacement yet.

I use a BDI Axis 8022 for my gear and Axis 8024 for my Plasma. Both were purchased online from Unique Style Solutions. Inc.

Wharf,
How was your experience with Unique Style Solutions? Shipping times/tracking, price, etc?

I just ordered the same combo from them...

Thanks,

It was over a year ago but I don't remember having any issues with Unique Style Solutions. I was dealing with Rick Shumate and from what I remember they got my orders shipped out in a timely fashion. They sent me the FedEx 3-day tracking #s I received both racks with no problems (2 seperate orders a week apart).

I think you will like the BDI gear. I'm very happy with both pieces I bought. Not cheap, but very stylish and extremely rigid units.

I like racks from Salamander, but they're a bit on the pricey side. A lot of the bargain basement stuff doesn't deal well with heavier equipment like 100lb amps. smile

Wharf,
I have the BDI furniture set up and overall I'm pretty happy with it. I have found, though, that the pieces (both 8024 and 8022) are leaning forward. The shelves are level (except for the bottom shelf which I think I installed wrong), but the actual wooden frame of the units lean forward.

This is somewhat annoying as my center speaker is inside the 8024 and even though I pulled it out as much as I could, the tweeter is still somewhat being blocked by the BDI frame as it is leaning forward so much.

Have you experienced the same?

Cheers

I too am using the Salamander Synergy tower rack. It is expensive, but so isn't what's inside. I just finished "loading" it with all the new gear. I have a 20 Base Unit and a 40 Extension sitting on top of it. The 990 is on the top shelf of the 40 which is a reinforced shelf (by design-nice touch) and the 7500 golioth is on the very bottom shelf of the 20. I have cd changer, dvd player and turntable along with the 990 in the top 40 extension. Above the 7500 on the base unit 20's upper shelf is a second zone amp and the Panamax 5100-EX power conditioner.

I did get the back panel extension for the upper unit. Without it, the cables (balanced interlinks) will not fit in the normal cabinet depth-something to consider at an extra expense, if you want an enclosed cabinet. I can't fit the base unit 20's conventional back panel on, now that the power conditioner is in the lower area. The Salamander web site is a wonderful resource and you can design your system on it. You'll have to find a dealer in your area though. Hope this helps.

I have the Bello AT-484 for my components. I have my Outlaw 7500 on the bottom of the rack. Looks good if you want the "modern" look. smile
