7125 or 7500 amp - 08/12/13 07:44 PM

Hello, I am new to Outlaw and a recent lightning strike has put me in the market for the 975 processor and an amp. My room is smallish 14x 11.5' and running 5.1 now with B&W 805's for the fronts, and B&W in walls for the side speakers. Sub is Velodyne 12". I do like to crank it up for movies and concert dvds and Blu rays.
I am sure the 7125 would be ample power, but I have found that higher power typically also means a more refined and cleaner sound. Has anyone here had both of these amps who could comment on the difference between the sound of the 2 amps. Appreciate the input.

I currently have both the 7500 and the 7125 and have used both in my main system over the years at different times. The 7125 is very capable and will provide all the power you should ever need for music or home theater. I originally bought the 7500 to be able to feed my Magnepans which are very power hungry. When the 7500 was in my main system I could not tell any difference in performance, but bear in mind that mt Klipsch speakers are very easy to drive to insane levels. You can expect about a 21 db increase in SPL from your speakers with the 7125 and about 23 db with the 7500. Given that you will rarely if ever drive your speakers to those levels( especially with the sub), you will have plenty of clean power to your mains and quite a bit of overhead for the surrounds using the 7125.

Prsfan, I had evaluated both the 7125 and 7500 as potential upgrades for my Classe CAV-75 for driving my Martin Logan reQuests. I posted about it some time ago--wow, just realized it's been 7 satisfied years--here: http://ubb.outlawaudio.com/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=70585

Whatever you can afford. I have the 7500 and I coułdn't be happier. Tons of power and superb channel separation with incredible detail.
