audio mode problem

I posted a bit about audio problems I was experiencing in the OSD thread...I just put a cd in to listen and the default mode for the cd's coaxial input is Dolby PLXII-M. During the song I switched to stereo, and no audio at all. I stopped the player, turned off the 970, then powered it back up. It came on in stereo mode (not the default mode), and audio works. Anyone with ideas of what's going on?
