Crossover for front/surround

Sorry for all these newbie questions...

So, my front speakers go down to 80hz and my surrounds 95hz.

What do you guys think I should set my crossovers at?

I'd probably start at 100 Hz all around and see how that sounds, then move up to 120 or 150 if needed. The best thing to do from there is to tinker with the setting and listen to the same track over and over again until you find what works best to your ears. If you want to get more technical, you could get a frequency response cd (Rives has them) and an SPL meter and actually measure to see which crossover gives you the flattest response.

I agreee with Doug - try 100Hz for all of them and experiment a bit. I might even try 80Hz for the mains, but I'd definitely try 120Hz for the surrounds. The goal is to get something that sounds best to you.

Setting the crossover frequency is definitely a little black magic. If you look in the manual for the ICBM it recommends that you take the +/- 3dB rated frequency range add 10HZ to the low end and set the crossover there or higher. (At least I think that I remember reading it in there.)

For example I have a pair of speakers rated at 45Hz- (whatever) +/- 3dB. According to the logic above I should set the crossover at 55Hz or higher.
