SMS-1 & 4 LFE inputs

SMS-1 & 4 LFE inputs - 01/19/07 05:05 PM

Any reason to think that the below will not work with the SMS-1????

As a new owner of the SMS-1 and twin LFM-1 Pluses I am very impressed with the performance, flexibility, and fine tuning that can be achieved. So far so good. I have lots of tweaking to still do.

I also have LFE inputs on both of my Definitive Technology 7001 Super Towers. If I split the signal from the third LFE output on the SMS-1 and send to the 7001's I assume I can still realize the benefits of EQ with the LFE signal going to each of the 7001's. The subs in the 7001's are 10" and use Def Tech's Supercube technology but they are not going to outperform a dedicated LFE sub.

I'm wondering if this will improve overall bass response in the room or make it worse ?

This could turn into a fun experiment.

I don't see how this could hurt anything. It probably wouldn't hurt to take a look at the system response screen after hooking up the 7001's subs to see what your curve looks like with the extra two subs in the mix, but it sounds like you're still getting it dialed in anyway. Give it a shot!

I will have this hooked up and dialed in this weekend and will report back. Should be very interesting to see the curve with 4 subs getting LFE material in my room. I'm thinking it will sound even better becuase I have 1 LFM-1 + in the back rear corner of the room and the other halfway between the back and front wall. The subs in the 7001's are really alone in the front of the room.
