Center Channel Dilemma - 12/30/04 10:31 AM

I was wondering if anyone has a Def Tech 2500 or 3000 center channel and has it on some kind of mount because the top of their RPTV is too small? I have about five inches on top of the tv that it is sitting on but it hangs over both the front and the back, which is working for now but doesn't seem to be the best option. any thoughts? Thanks.

Have you considered a suspended shelf above the TV? I saw one person's solution was to hang his speaker from the ceiling with nylon fishing filament line. The lines were nearly invisible and gave the appearance of a floating speaker!

Another option available is an adjustable bracket that mounts to the tv. Can't recall where I saw it, but it was online at a website that sold other audio accessories(such as Auralax).

Ok,I guess I should have looked a little harder before posting but, I found a stand for the top of the tv at Circuit City that looks like it will be perfect. I will let you know how it works.

I had a same dilemma few months ago when I bought Def Tech 2500 center channel speaker. My HDTV was RCA Scenium and has very thin top TV space. My previous center channel speaker was Klipsch and was able to place on top of my TV with some modification but Def Tech 2500 was out of question. So after looking into some ready made to sit on top of my TV for center channel, I wasn't satisfied with the look and its stability. Finally I went to Home Depot to buy the regular metal shelf L brakets (fairly large size) and mounted to the rear wall and cut medium density MDF board to proper size and covered the board with exercise mat (one you place under the treadmill machine) using staple guns. Once it is nicely covered with mat, the board was resting against the metal L bracket extending all the way to top of my RCA RPTV Scenium. It is very stable and my Def Tech 2500 sits on top of the board sounding wonderfully ever since. Once I knew what I was going to do, it only took me couple of hours to do the whole project. Hope this will give you some ideas to solve your situation.

i deal with a low ceiling in my basement, but i took some small chain and hooks(support the load at least) and hung on a 3 point from the bottom of my center.the 3 point allows for simple "aiming" it's cheap, functional, and looks cool from across the room.

p.s.
i'd trust it better than fishin line
