Best way to hook up two subs? - 02/04/04 04:38 PM

Hello,

What is the best way to connect two subs to the 950? Do I buy a RCA "Y" connector to split the signal from the 950 and then run cable to each sub? Is it better to pull from the left and right speaker outs? The current placement of the subs are on the outside of each main(front) speaker.

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,
Mike

Soundhound,

One more question regarding setup of two subs.

If you run an interconnect from the main left and right output from the 950 into the line input of each sub and then the line out from each sub to the input of each channel of the amp. Do you lose anything from the sub in/out connection? Do you lose timing or create any out of phase signals or anything else from the extended interconnect runs? In my case I would have to run a 10' interconnect to the sub input and another 10' interconnect back to the main amplifier and then the 10' speaker cable to the main speaker. Do you foresee any issues with this setup?

Thanks again,
Mike

I don't see any major problems with the 20 feet of interconnect. Another way you might go would be to use the Outlaw ICBM to do the crossover - it can accommodate stereo subs and might be higher quality than the line level crossover in your subs.
