Aplifier Trigger - 10/13/02 07:32 PM

I just got my 950 and love it.

Here's my problem though. I have an Acurus 200X5 amp and it does not have any "auto on" or "signal trigger" on it so I have to turn it on manually. Now that is not entirely true...I bought a remote control electrical plug outlet but the the remote is RF not IR.

I am wondering if anyone knows of anything I can use to have my amp automatically come on (i.e. a trigger controlled power bar).

Any suggestions would be great, Thanks

I use a panamax 5100 you can find them for around $210 and not only do you get switchable outlets but surge protection also. The 5100 has a 12 volt trigger in and it has 4 outlets always on 4 that can be switched and 2 high current outlets for amps that can be switched. It works quite well and has several time settings for the switching. I know that Monster and Furman make similar models to Panamaxs'and I would imagine that they all work about the same.

It's been a long time since you posted, but Parasound makes a thing called the SCAMP which is a 12v triggered A/C outlet. They're available on e-Bay fairly cheap.

If you're not afraid of a soldering iron you could make your own relay triggered power strip or a single outlet using a sufficient size relay.... you could just use the relay to switch the hot side going into the plug or power strip when the relay is triggered.....
