1070 bass management - 10/26/06 05:26 PM

I have all my speakers set to small, the front mains crossed at 80 and the center and rear speakers set at 100. What freq are getting to my sub the 80 and below or 100 and below? Thanks

The sub is getting below 80Hz from the mains and below 100Hz from the center and rears, plus the entire LFE track on 5.1 sources.

I use panorama "On" and a center width of 4 or 5 with my 990.

gonk,
I have Mythos for L/R/C and Mirage in ceiling for the two rears. I have Panaroma on and center width at 5. What would you suggest for crossover on all the speakers? Right now, I have all at 120 with the sub at 140. Thanks as always.

How do you have your sub at 140, is it the sub own cross over and not set in the 1070. Thanks Drew

I'd disable the sub's crossover, or if that's not possible I'd set it as high as possible - the 1070 can take care of all the bass management for you, so the extra crossover at the sub isn't necessary.

For the Mythos 6 mains and Mythos 7 center (both of which go down to 60hz), you could probably run the crossover as low as 80Hz if you wanted, although it might be useful to experiment with 100Hz. I wouldn't go any higher than 120Hz, but it's not a bad idea to give it a whirl. I'm not sure about what Mirages you have, but you might try 100Hz as well as the 120Hz you're presently using.

I didnt think it was possible to set the sub cross over in 1070 but I just got mine the other day.

Gonk,
Are the b stock 1070 refurb? Thanks

It's not possible to set a sub crossover in the 1070, but I'm assuming that obrientwo has set a crossover at his sub's plate amp.

B-stock covers an assortment of situations, from what I understand - refurb, returns during the 30-day trial period, blemished units, ...

Re sub crossover. Yes, set on sub itself. 140 was as high as it could be set. I have all other speakers set at 120 but have seen AVS posting where a suggestion was made to crossover the C at a higher point than L/R???? I assume that logic would be to make better use of the sub as so much work is done by the C???
FYI, my 1070 is from B stock and seems perfect. My wife even likes the whole system once I got a Harmony 880.
