Why would I buy a 1070 versus a Denon 3805 - 08/18/05 08:49 PM

I am looking for a receiver that will excel with multi-channel SACD and DVD-A music and be good at HT as well. I've narrowed it down to the Outlaw 1070 or the Denon 3805/6. I have a Denon 3910 DVD so I could use the digital DL3 link for SACD with the Denon but it looks like the build quality of the 1070 is better. Which do you think would sound best for multi-channel music? I have got to be in the top few on the reservation list for the 1070 as I got my confirmation back at 08:01 so I need to decide soon.

It's best to base your choice on feature sets (price being about equal), since there's really nothing other than historical precedent upon which to gauge the possible sonic quality difference. If someone in the forum can comment on the audible benefits of Denon Link for hi-res audio, that might help.

If feature sets aren't enough, go for the 1070 and tell us about it, if for no other reason than I'm too chicken (or financially unfit) to be an early adopter.

Get them both for a 30 day trial and keep the one that sounds the best. My bet's on the Outlaw.
