pre amp for 7125 amp - 07/08/13 06:29 PM

Will a marantz 7701 preamp work with a 7125 amp so the amp will deliver full power? I understand you have to factor output and input impedance's, voltage gain etc and I am not an engineer. Help. Thanks.

The 7125 requires 1 volt input to get full rated output. I could not find an output spec on the AV-7701 but the output on the AV-7005 offered by Outlaw is 1.2 volts. The AV-7701 may be different but I doubt if it is less than 1 volt as that is actually pretty low.

The AV7701 also has 1.2 volt unbalanced pre-outs.

Here's the spec sheet: AV7701 Specs

Info is on the second page.

So the answer is yes the 7125 will acieve full rated output with the AV-7701.

Just an FYI, I am going to be using a SR6007 AVR for my pre pro with a 7125 and its specs are almost identical to the 7701 analog section specs, including the 1.2v rated output. The only difference I could find on paper is the pre pro analog section SN ratio is 105db, where the AVR's SN ratio for the analogs is 100db.

Im guessing the 1.2v rated output on the analog section is standard on the Marantz units.

The 7701 has XLR outputs and since it lacks internal power amps runs significantly cooler but they do share core DSP technology -- http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/ProductDetails.aspx?CatId=avreceivers&ProductId=SR6007 vs http://us.marantz.com/us/Products/Pages/...roductId=AV7701

I have the SC5509 on my list for next year, but itll probably be May June before that happens.
