LFM-2 vs LFM-1

LFM-2 vs LFM-1 - 04/27/06 03:53 PM

I am using Magnepan speakers in one room and electrostatics in another. With the physics (transients) involved in my system, and the fact that I'm not really interested in LOUD; would multiple 2's with the Velodyne processor be better than 1's

thanx

The LFM-1 will get a little deeper than the LFM-2, but if you are staying north of the 30Hz range (as is the case with most music material) LFM-2's with the SMS-1 to EQ them will probably sound better than an un-EQ'd LFM-1. I'm not so sure about the situation of that single LFM-1 has an SMS-1 as well.

I am debating between the -1 vs -2 as well, I have B&W 802 series 3 speakers in a 12x18 room. I plan on driving them with the RR2150, if it ever gets here. smile 95% of my listening is music, I was just looking for a little more solid bass to the music, no real interest in stomach pounding bass from movies. Any comments on the -1 vs -2 with this setup?

With music as your focus, you may not need the extra couple Hz of depth offered by the LFM-1. I've enjoyed my LFM-1 for more than two years now, but it's likely that the smaller LFM-2 would serve you just fine for what you are looking for.
