I just got my LFM 2 and am setting it up. When the unit is in auto and all sources are off, it shows green (as it does when it is in on). Only way to get it to show red is to turn switch to off. When it's set to auto, shouldn't it turn to green and go on automatically only when a signal is applied to it?

How long did you wait after turning the receiver or processor off? As I recall, when I was using the auto-sensing my LFM-1 stayed on (green light) for quite a few minutes after the processor shut down before shutting off (red light).
Right you are gonk. Takes about 10 minutes to go to red when all is off and comes on instantly when I start up again.

I seen in your review of the LFM that you would be adding more comments later. Do you still own a LFM-1 or do you just not use auto- sensing? Just wondering if there was a reason not to use the auto-sensing.

I've still got an LFM-1. I used auto-sensing for a year or so, and it works like a charm. I ended up with an extra switched outlet on my Panamax for amps, so I hooked the LFM-1 up to that.

Gonk, I recently set up my LFM2 and I do not have it plugged into a switched outlet. I actually have it plugged into a nearby wall outlet that I had installed that is dedicated for HT equipment only.
I was told by Outlaw, that they rather I not plug the "sub" into a "switched" unit on the amp / preamp unit. As a result my "green" light on the LFM2 is always on.
Is this OK?

Outlaw was quite right to steer you away from plugging the LFM-2 (or any sub or amp) into a receiver or processor's accessory outlet - those outlets are not intended for loads larger than a DVD player or VCR.
It is fine to leave your sub on all the time, but if you want to you can set the power switch on the sub's plate amp to its middle position ("auto"). In this position, it will detect when a signal is being sent to the sub and turn on, then after the sub goes for several minutes without getting a signal (typically around 15 to 30 minutes, to be sure it's not just a quiet passage) the sub will shut off (red light instead of green).
