Release date? - 05/26/05 06:07 PM

I can't find any information on this thing. It sounds like it might be a perfect solution for my bedroom. Do we have an expected release date? Photos? Specs?

It should be getting close - some of the information from the HE Show in New York suggested that it would be coming by late June. According to the Ultimate AV report from the show, the -2dB point is 28Hz, it uses an 8" driver, and will sell for $299. ScottH confirmed that, adding that it's using a 150W amp and is nearly ready to ship. Arica9 reported that it was around 18" high by 24" deep by 12" wide. It does sound like a great unit for a bedroom system.

With the LFM1-B available for $399 it may be a good choice for a bedroom too. Depends how big the bedroom is..

Scott,

Whats the height between the bottom and the floor going to be. (I assume its down firing like the LFM1)

Could it be a STF-1 with an Outlaw badge on it?

Re: Release date? - 05/31/05 03:10 PM

Since the LFM-1 was developed with input from Dr. Hsu (I believe it's a cousin of sorts to the STF-3) and the specs are so similar to the STF-1, I would assume that there is some relationship between the two.

Interesting about the LFM1 design, which I am anxious to understand in the LFM2.

I have been building subs, speakers for some time and I have never seen someone put the driver so close to the ground given its volume. On carpet it has less than 1" clearance. This of course would drive the SPL into the foundation, therefore creating an illusion of more power. If it was on a hardwood floor I surprised it doesn't bounce! This also makes for cool effects in some movies.. wink I have already noticed that about the LFM1B I purchased, which I am still breaking in.

In the case of the LFM2's 8" driver to achieve the same thing its clearance would have to be quite close to the floor, hence my question earlier about the LFM2 clearance...

Re: Release date? - 06/03/05 06:35 PM

Considering that the stf-1 was very well received, I can't wait for the Outlaw version. Just a better looking stf-1 with a downward firing port (for the same cost, no less) would be a very significant improvement.

Right now, I'm eyeing 2 of these babies--one on either side of my TV console. My current Def Tech 1500, and even the LFM-2, are simply too big for my space. And I believe that the placement benefits of dual subs will override the slightly extended deep end the LFM-2 would provide (though I would have jumped on that b-stock offer if I'd seen it in time...).

It'll be exciting to try it out, though! I'm looking foward to my second Outlaw purchase. smile
