After update menu button doesn't work

After update menu button doesn't work - 12/22/07 08:08 PM

I tried to update my firmware to 3.11.04 and it seemed to work fine. I got the "success" message, powered off the unit, moved the switch to opr, then reset the unit. Powered it back on got the tuner and 87.5 screen but I get NO menu. No onscreen menu when I use the remote, not even a front panel menu when I hit the front panel button. Nothing's changed except the update. I can cycle through all the inputs (although it occasionally gets frozen on one), but I can't get to a menu screen to reconfigure the unit.

Before anyone says "reload the firmware" I've done that 3x already!!!!

The front panel never displays any menu, so the first step is to make sure that you are using one of the 990's analog video outputs (composite, s-video, or component) - those are the only outputs that will display the menu.

Yep. I have the front panel composite (video 5) hooked up directly to my tv. Nothing.

That's a video input - not an output. You need to use one of the rear panel outputs.

I already had the output connected on the back. I was testing to see if the 990 needed an actual analog source to present the on-screen display.

Sorry wasn't very clear... typing from between the TV and the wall

Weird. I waited about 10 min had a beer and came back to it and the menu comes up no problem. It must have given the gremlins time to run away. :-/ Strange that is similiar to this situation: http://ubb.outlawaudio.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?/ubb/get_topic/f/34/t/001249.html
