problems with 990 and motorola dct-6412 - 03/07/07 10:21 PM

Is anyone else having this problem. I am using a harmony 880 remote to control my system. Here is the problem: When I chose the watch tv activity on the remote, it turns on the cable box, 990 and then display in that order with very little delay in between. It seems as though when the 990 is turned on immediately following the cable box all my user settings on the cable box goes back to the factory defaults (480p output and 4:3 aspect ratio). I can't make it out but the cable box flashes some sort of code that appears to be coming from the 990. But if I manually turn on the 990 first and wait a second before turning on the cable box all my user settings are correct on the cable box(720p and 16:9 aspect ratio). I was hoping that I would be able to change the order in which the remote turns devices on but I can't seem to be able to do that. Anyone have any suggestions?

I haven't heard of anyone running into this, I don't think. The cable box is effectively resetting itself? I'd probably start by getting some input from Harmony's tech support - their software somewhat limits what the user can do, but their techs can dig right into the nitty-gritty and may be able to find what command is resetting the cable box. I'd suggest testing the interaction of the original signals themselves (using the cable box and 990 remotes to re-create the start-up sequence), but I really think that's overkill. Most likely there's something out-of-place in the "Watch TV" activity macro.

I use the Harmony 890 with the Motorola dct-6412 and don't have any problems.

My remote turns the 990 on first though.

Still not much luck. I figured out that the du1 code that flashes across the cable box is really dvi. I've delete the watch tv activity and started from scratch but still same results. I'll have to give Harmony a call tomorrow.
